To work as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or ECE Assistant in a licensed child care facility in British Columbia, you must be certified by the ECE Registry. Winston College’s ECEA03 course is not currently a program recognized by the ECE Registry. Graduates who wish to pursue ECE Registry certification must apply through the Registry’s equivalency assessment process, and there is no guarantee of equivalency approval. This course is designed as a foundational step toward a career working with children, preparing students for entry-level roles such as Child Care Assistant or Preschool Assistant.

Program Outline

Every child care employer looks for the same baseline: someone who understands hygiene standards, safety procedures, and children’s nutritional needs. Winston College’s Child Health, Safety and Nutrition (ECEA03) course covers exactly that — practical, employer-relevant knowledge for early learning environments.
Delivered online over 4 weeks (64 hours total), the course keeps the structure of a real class: weekly topics, quizzes and case studies, a summative assessment, and instructor guidance throughout. Flexible scheduling doesn’t mean less rigor — it means fitting real coursework around your life.
