Diploma of E-Commerce & Web Development

 

Program outline

This diploma program teaches student the knowledge of E-commerce and web development technologies available in the market. Level I prepare a student for all the entry level jobs for web professionals like technical web support, Microsoft office professional or a basic web designer. Level II prepare a student for entering into the field of web administration. After doing this course, a student would be quite proficient in setting up web server, web databases, maintaining simple web security issues and maintaining a shopping cart. Graduated students have option to continue to pursue higher level fields of specification in Adobe Designer, Microsoft Web Developer, Java Web Developer and LAMP Developer.

Program Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent with GPA average B- or above, or age 19 and above; Winston College English Placement Test minimum 60%, or Winston College ESL program as prerequisite.

 

Learning Outcomes / Objectives

Upon completion of this program the student will be able to:

  • Design, develop and maintain highly functional, dynamic websites
  • Create websites using HTML, DHTML, Access, Cold Fusion and ASP
  • Build a complete web application using Microsoft ASP.NET, Visual Basic.NET and Visual Studio
  • Understand traditional and electronic commerce technologies used to place orders and process payments
  • Understand and use basic networking, scripting languages and server administration
